Background:  I have been involved in volleyball for the last 8 years.  My involvement began with my daughter's introduction to club volleyball when she was 13.  I so enjoyed the sport of volleyball during this time that I began to assist and learn all I could about the sport.  In addition, I had a brother who had ,at that time, been coaching for 15 plus years at the club and head varsity high school level who was encouraging me.

I have coached a variety of sports throughout my life.  In addition, I had a great deal of experience dealing with kids in a variety of ways. Because of this, I knew that coaching was a great fit me.

Over the next 3 years I fulfilled the assistant coach role at the U14 and U16 levels.  I had a great experience teaching and coaching young athletes during this time and felt it was time to take the next step.

I began my coaching career with a team playing at the U14 level.  During this time, my team and I grew in a variety of ways.  We started out 13th out 16th in our first tournament and ended up winning a major tournament by the end of the season.  From there, I continued coaching at the U15 level.

Expectations:  I am so excited to be part of the Apex Volleyball Academy staff.  We are building a very competitive environment for the 2012 season.  The goal for my team this next year will be to create an environment consisting of very completive athletes wanting to dominate every tournament we attend.

My goal is to assist my players in rising to next level so that they are ready for their varsity years in high school as well as preparing them for a potential college volleyball career.

Coaching Philosophy;  As a coach, I believe in creating high expectations for my players and providing an environment where each player can exceed those expectation.  I pray that I can create an environment which will ensure that I will not be the last coach a player ever has.

Why do I coach?  Preparing athletes for high school while their bodies & minds are fighting one another is what I look forward to every season. I love watching players go from just playing volleyball to expanding outside their comfort zone beyond anything they could have imagined. I call it “the light bulb effect”. It's when that imaginary light bulb appears above their head and the next level of volleyball begins. It's truly the proudest moment for a coach.

Coaching Philosophy: . I believe that sports can have long term effects on the outcome of a young person's life. While a player is learning how to hit line, angle, pass, and set or dump the ball they are also learning to make a split decision that can change to outcome of the game. Similar pressures occur in high school as well throughout life. It’s the decisions you make that can positively change the outcome of your life and others. Learning how to evaluate a "moment in time" and make a good decision is critical in all areas of life. Sports assist in teaching a person both physical skills and help to mold you as an individual.
